Beautiful Jo. Compassion feels so central to all the work we do as psychologists, and feels to me like the primary medicine needed in the world today 💙

Thank you Vicki.

Yes, I agree. I love how the compassion focussed work also connects with spirituality. People like Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama come at it from a different direction, but with similar aims. I watched a beautiful film called Mission Joy, of their meeting in 2015. I can't recall if Desmond Tutu spoke the quote about going up river, but he had a lot of other powerful things to say. It's on BBC website, but I can't access it from here sadly.

Beautiful 🙏💛🙏 In Buddhism, we aspire to practice the 'Four Immeasurables' for all sentient beings including ourselves - loving-kindness, compassion, rejoicing and equanimity 🙏💛🙏

Thank you Emma. I'm going to need to look into the 'Four Immeasurables' some more- I find the first two hard to distinguish in my mind and need to find some examples. Rejoicing sounds like a lovely thing to practice. And the holy grail of equanimity!

As I type there is a very loud frog chirping outside. We have three days of heavy rain on its way- I wonder if it is warning the other frogs. I hope not to find more drowning creatures in the pool!
