That fine balance between being present with and not avoiding whatever arises - but also not feeding or perpetuating our mental states. Another teacher describes it as learning to unhook from the push and pull or something similar.
You’re absolutely right, and the noticing to let it pass through is crucial. It’s very easy to cling or get hooked to a feeling or way of being, which then makes it more likely we and others try to avoid or push away.
