Yesterday was World Down Syndrome Day- held on the 21st March because people with Down Syndrome have three copies of chromosome 21, rather than a pair (21 / 3). We wore colourful socks at work, to show our support. I found out today that it was also World Poetry Day, but I don’t know if there is any significance of the chosen date for poetry. I didn’t write or read any poetry yesterday, but perhaps it can inspire us all to be creative this weekend?
Today I’m taking a pause and not writing a long article. It’s been a busy week and it’s time to practice what I preach with regard to compassion, self-care, and rest.
I might get the poetry books out later as a prompt for my own writing, or I might go to a local cultural event and enjoy listening to others reading their poetry instead. It’s a day for no expectations, and no demands!
A Friday night beach stop to savour a sky full of fire.
I have an exciting transition next week, so my article is likely to be posted on Sunday rather than the usual Saturday.
I hope you’ll come back and join me.
